Throughout this event, participants will experiment with using unconventional materials to apply paint, texture, and movement to the canvas. No prior art experience is necessary; this workshop is designed for beginners and beyond, eager to dive into the world of abstract art and painting with unconventional materials.
Workshop supplies provided. This class is for adults only.
You will go home with one 16” x 20” abstract painting that you were able to complete during the workshop.
Workshop Flow:
We’ll kick off the workshop by acquainting you with the materials and guiding you through their usage. In this time, you will also get to experiment with how unconventional materials can be used on the canvas to apply paint. Some of the materials we will use to paint include bubble wrap, cups, and mesh.
Participants will be guided through how to paint a base layer on their canvas that may be influenced by certain emotions or the space around them.
Through guided exercises and discussions, we'll explore how to compose an abstract piece of artwork influenced by your own self-expression and exploration.
Learn the art of layering and discover how certain colors and patterns can influence mood and perception. Ashley will provide insights into color analysis, empowering you to create compositions that not only visually stimulate but also resonate with your artistic goals.
As the workshop draws to a close, you'll step back and admire your unique creations, each a testament to your personal journey of self-expression and exploration of painting with unconventional materials.
